Playback Webinar: Development of Axial Contra Rotating Fans at ebm-papst St. Georgen with ADT’s TURBOdesign Suite

Written by Mehrdad Zangeneh | 01-Apr-2021 08:00:00

This webinar present a rapid and efficient design and optimization process for axial contra-rotating fans with ebm-papst.

The speakers present application of TURBOdesign tools for the preliminary multi-blade row design of the axial fan where the rpm and pressure rise repartition of the different stages are varied. The results of the preliminary design work are shown to be in excellent agreement with 3D CFD validating the overall design process and solution.

In this webinar, you will:

✔️ Learn how to approach the design of high performance axial contra-rotating fans;

✔️ Discover how design optimization techniques can be used to explore wide areas of the design space within minutes;

✔️ Validate initial design assumptions from 1D sizing, 3D Inverse Design and 3D CFD data.

About the TURBOdesign Suite

In this webinar, we will demonstrate how the use of inverse-design based methods makes the design process simpler, quicker and dramatically more intuitive. Further, we will see how the efficient optimization methods within TURBOdesign Suite allow designers to produce very high performance, fully optimized designs within industrial timescales.

TURBOdesign Suite is a unique aerodynamic and hydrodynamic 3D design package for all types of turbomachinery blades such as pumps, compressors, fans, turbines and torque converters. We will be focusing on TURBOdesign Pre which is a 1D sizing code applicable to various turbomachinery components. It uses different loss models to optimize the basic dimensions of an impeller, vaned and vane-less diffusers and volute given flow rate, rpm and pressure rise/head.

About ebm-papst St. Georgen

The ebm-papst Group is a manufacturer of electric motors and fans. It came into existence in 2003 when the companies Elektrobau Mulfingen GmbH & Co. KG (ebm), Papst Motoren GmbH in St. Georgen and Motoren Ventilatoren Landshut GmbH (mvl) merged. The company employs around 13,000 employees at 25 production facilities (including those in Germany, China, and the USA) and 49 sales offices worldwide. The headquarters is located in Mulfingen in the Hohenlohe district of Germany.
